Best Skinny Dip Experience

Secret Beach, Kauai

My wife and I spent our honeymoon on the island of Kauai in Hawaii. One day we decided to check out Secret Beach. At that time we were both unaware of its status as an unofficial nude beach.

Since it was relatively early in the day, there weren't very many other visitors around as we made our way down the somewhat treacherous trail down to the beach. We checked out the beach for a bit, and then started climbing around on the rock formations along the coastline. It is here that you will find the lava pools -- areas of rock where the tide will trap ocean water that is then heated by the sun.

The juxtaposition of the placid, warm lava pools next to the tumultuous Pacific Ocean was not lost on us as we reclined in the splendor of the scenery around us.

At that moment, it just seemed so natural to be nude to fully experience being so close to nature. My wife and I had this thought nearly simultaneously, as we both took off our swimsuits.

We spent the next half hour or so naked in the lava pools on Secret Beach, feeling like a part of nature instead of viewing it from the outside looking in. We loved every minute of it, and hoped that everyone would enjoy the experience as much as we did. It truly was transcendental.

We could have stayed there all day, but there was much to see and do, so we begrudgingly donned our swimsuits once more for the trek back up the beach.

If you haven't experienced the lava pools on Kauai, especially in the way nature intended, I can't recommend it more highly.

Breaking Down Barriers

On a recent trip to a Florida beach resort, while swimming in the Gulf of Mexico, the incredible urge to be naked in the water was too much to suppress. I found myself out beyond any other swimmers and removed my trunks. I stayed there for what seemed like hours enjoying the feel of the water and a freedom like I have never experienced before.

I am a 51 year old male and never would have thought to do something like that in a private pool let alone the Gulf. The exhilaration I felt left an indelible image of the freedom and sense of one with nature that I want to continue.

Upon returning home, I immediately joined AANR and am actively seeking a local resort to visit. It will be my first "official" exposure (no pun intended) to a naturist environment and I welcome any suggestions.

Thank you for opening up a new chapter in my life.
